Animal Registry
The Animal Registry is the State's register of animals registered in the Principality. Owners can register an animal, manage its record, and transfer ownership through the ePortal. Members of the public can verify a registered animal anonymously through the Verification service.
Reach the Animal Registry from the dashboard or directly at eportal.kaharagia.org/animals.
What the registry does
A registered animal has:
- A registration number unique to the animal
- A record of species and (where applicable) breed
- A date of birth (or estimated)
- A name chosen by the owner
- An owner identified through the ePortal
- A status (active, deceased, transferred, etc.)
- A public verification page at verify.kaharagia.org that confirms authenticity without disclosing owner contact details
Where appropriate, the State may issue a physical or digital identifier (a tag, a QR-coded label, a passport) tying the animal to its registration.
Registering an animal
Reach the registration flow from the registry list or directly at /animals/register.
Before you start
- Verified K-Connect account (a registered animal is owned by a verified person)
- Animal details: name, species, breed (or a custom breed), date of birth (day, month, year, best estimates if exact date unknown)
- Photograph of the animal (recommended, not always required)
- Any prior identification, microchip number, foreign-registry ID, etc. (helpful but optional)
The form
- Animal name: the name you wish to register the animal under
- Species: choose from the list (dog, cat, horse, etc.)
- Breed: choose a breed for the chosen species, or use the custom breed field if your breed isn't listed
- Date of birth: day, month, and year. Estimate if needed.
- Photograph: upload a clear photo
- Additional details: any markings, identifying features, or prior identification numbers
- Review and submit
After submission
- You'll receive an inbox confirmation
- An officer reviews the submission for completeness
- Once approved, the animal is added to the registry under your ownership and the verification page becomes live
- Where applicable, identification (a tag or QR label) may be dispatched to you
Managing an animal record
Click any animal in your registry list to open its record. From the record you can:
- Update details: name, photograph, breed (some changes may require officer review)
- Mark a status change: for example, recording the death of an animal
- View the public verification page as the public would see it
- Initiate a transfer to a new owner (see below)
- View messages about the animal, communications relating to verification queries the public has sent through the Alias Token contact channel
Transferring an animal to another owner
When an animal changes hands, the ownership record should be updated through the ePortal so that the new owner is recorded and verification reflects the change.
As the current owner
- Open the animal's record in your registry
- Choose Transfer ownership
- Confirm the transfer details (intended recipient, reason for transfer, effective date)
- Submit. The system generates a transfer token: a unique code valid for a limited period, and sends instructions to the recipient (or to you to forward).
As the recipient
You receive the transfer token (by email from the State or directly from the previous owner). To complete the transfer:
- Sign in to the ePortal with your verified K-Connect account
- Go to the transfer URL: /animals/transfer/{token} with your token
- Review the animal record and confirm acceptance
- Submit
Once accepted, the animal is moved to your registry and the previous owner's record is updated. Both parties receive an inbox confirmation.
If the recipient is not on the ePortal
If the new owner does not have an ePortal account, they will need to create one (see Create a K-Connect account and Verify your identity) before they can complete the transfer. The transfer token is held while they do so, subject to its validity period.
Reading public messages about your animal
When a member of the public uses the Verification service to verify your animal and (for example) report having found it, they may send you a message through the Alias Token contact channel. The State routes the message to you; the sender does not learn your identity or contact details unless you tell them in your reply.
Messages appear on the animal's record in your registry, and (depending on your notification preferences) in your inbox. Reply through the same channel.
Privacy of animal records
A defining principle of the Animal Registry is that public verification confirms the record without identifying the owner. The verification page shows what the State considers necessary for verification (typically: registration number, species, name, basic identifying details) but does not disclose your contact details, address, or any other personally identifying information.
Lookup activity (who looked up which animal, when) is logged for security and abuse-detection purposes. See the Verification Privacy Notice for full detail.
Common questions
- "My animal's breed isn't in the list." Use the custom breed field. The system will record what you enter.
- "I don't know the exact date of birth." Estimate to the best of your knowledge. The form accepts approximate dates.
- "What if I find a registered animal that isn't mine?" Use the QR code or registration number on the Verification service to confirm authenticity, then send a message to the owner via the Alias Token contact channel.
- "What happens if my animal dies?" Open the animal's record and mark the status change. The verification page will reflect the updated status.
- "My animal was reported lost. What do I do?" When you have it back, mark the status as recovered. If the registration was suspended, contact us for reactivation.
- "Can I register an animal I don't own?" Registration is for the lawful owner. If you are a custodian or representative, indicate this in the submission so it can be reviewed appropriately.
